Abstract: As an ancient Tibetan group, the Zhaba are known for distinctive languages and wedding customs. Their most representative practice is “walking marriage,” a matrilineal marriage system that highlights the authority of maternal kin and helps sustain long-standing modes of production and everyday life in the Zhaba region.

In recent years, with the increasing frequency of cultural contact and ethnic exchanges, the custom of walking marriage in Zhaba has begun to undergo some changes, which poses new challenges to Zhaba, which is currently on the edge of endangered ethnic cultures.

Therefore, this article explores the social and cultural foundation, basic characteristics, and contemporary changes of the walking marriage customs of the Zhaba Zang people, in order to focus on and grasp the core elements that enable the preservation and transformation of the Zhaba walking marriage customs.

Abstract: This paper examines ghee flower art, a distinctive religious sculptural tradition associated with the Gelug sect of Tibetan Buddhism. While widely appreciated across the Tibetan cultural sphere, the tradition has also been actively inherited and developed in the Kham region.

Focusing on Lingque (Lingque Xingsheng) Temple in Xianshui Town, Dawu County, Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province—one of the thirteen holy temples in Kham—this study highlights the temple as a major center for ghee flower practice.

Beyond its religious function, ghee flower art and the Ghee Flower Lantern Festival have become deeply embedded in local social life. This paper argues that the practice operates not only as devotional art but also as a cultural institution that shapes community identity, everyday routines, and collective memory in Dawu.
